Works best on articles, service and product pagesHow it works
The converter fetches the page, finds the main content area (the article or main element, or the largest block of real text), removes navigation, footers, banners and scripts, then converts what is left into standard Markdown.
Good uses
- Give ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity a clean copy of a page to analyze or rewrite.
- Check what an AI crawler actually sees on your page once the design is stripped away.
- Create Markdown versions of key pages to link from your llms.txt file.
- Pull content into a CMS, docs site or knowledge base.
Questions
Why convert a web page to Markdown?
Markdown strips away layout, scripts and navigation and keeps the actual content: headings, paragraphs, lists, links and tables. It is the format AI models read most efficiently, so it is useful for feeding pages into ChatGPT or Claude, building llms.txt companion files, auditing what content a page really contains, and migrating content between platforms.
What does the converter keep and remove?
It keeps the main content area: headings, paragraphs, lists, links, images, tables, quotes and code blocks. It removes navigation, headers, footers, sidebars, cookie banners, forms and scripts. You can turn links, images and the frontmatter block on or off.
What is the token estimate?
A rough count of how many tokens an AI model would use to read the Markdown, based on about four characters per token. Lean pages with less boilerplate are cheaper and easier for AI systems to process.
Why can't it read some pages?
Some sites block automated requests, require a login, or load their content with JavaScript after the page opens. In those cases the converter may get an error or only part of the content.
Should I publish Markdown versions of my pages?
Some sites publish a .md version of key pages and link them from llms.txt so AI tools can read them cleanly. It is optional, but it pairs well with a good llms.txt file.
